چکیده

Background A right hemi-diaphragm (RHD) respiratory navigator is commonly used to suppress the respiratory motion of the heart in coronary MRI [1]. Typically, a small 5mm end expiratory gating window (GW) is used to gate data. While this technique successfully suppresses respiratory motion, it prolongs scan time due to navigator efficacies of only 30-50%. Increasing the GW to 15mm would increase the navigator efficiency. In this study, we present a novel respiratory motion correction algorithm which allows increasing the GW to 15mm.

Self-guided retrospective motion correction (SEGMO) for free-breathing whole-heart coronary MRA with 100% acquisition efficiency

Background Free-breathing whole heart coronary MRA uses diaphragm navigator to gate data acquisition, which suffers from the need for time-consuming and exquisite positioning, prolonged scan time due to low gating efficiency, and inaccuracy in motion detection. In this work, a respiratory motion correction scheme is proposed with an affine motion model for accurate estimation of respiratory mot...

CoSMo: Compressed Sensing Motion Correction for Coronary MRI

INTRODUCTION: In cardiac imaging, respiratory motion causes image artifacts and ghosting. Over the past two decades, several approaches have been proposed to minimize motion artifacts such as breath-holding, respiratory navigators or self-gating [1]. In high resolution imaging, respiratory navigators using a 2D selective RF excitation typically positioned on the right hemi-diaphragm, have been ...

High efficiency coronary MRA with non-rigid cardiac motion correction: beyond the quiescent period

Background Coronary arteries remain challenging structures to image using MRI due to the small size, tortuous course, and continual motion. Current high-resolution whole-heart techniques use prospective ECG-triggering and navigator gating to suppress cardiac and respiratory motion artifacts, respectively. However, these motion suppression strategies only accept data acquired within a narrow win...

Self-Navigation with Compressed Sensing for 2D Translational Motion Correction in Free-Breathing Coronary MRI: A Feasibility Study

PURPOSE Respiratory motion correction remains a challenge in coronary magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and current techniques, such as navigator gating, suffer from sub-optimal scan efficiency and ease-of-use. To overcome these limitations, an image-based self-navigation technique is proposed that uses "sub-images" and compressed sensing (CS) to obtain translational motion correction in 2D. The...

Motion‐corrected simultaneous cardiac positron emission tomography and coronary MR angiography with high acquisition efficiency

PURPOSE Develop a framework for efficient free-breathing simultaneous whole-heart coronary magnetic resonance angiography (CMRA) and cardiac positron emission tomography (PET) on a 3 Tesla PET-MR system. METHODS An acquisition that enables nonrigid motion correction of both CMRA and PET has been developed. The proposed method estimates translational motion from low-resolution 2D MR image navi...
